Richard T. Gougler, 87, of Warren Ohio, passed away peacefully at Cortland Healthcare in Cortland on October 11, 2018. The son of Benjamin Gougler and Marian Pew Gougler was born on February 17, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in Warren.
He was employed by Packard Electric as a Material Handler and Tow Motor Operator for many years until his retirement. Richard served his country as a sergeant in the United States Marines during the Korean War from 1950-1952 and then other bases until 1956. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer, and was head usher for many years. He enjoyed the family gatherings and outings and was very involved with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard was an active member of the Moose Lodge, and taught swimming lessons at Boy Scout Camp in the summers. He was an avid reader and donated his books to the public library for others to read. He enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing and target shooting with his sons, traveling, playing cards, and considered himself a pretty good chef as well.
Memories of Richard will be carried on by his wife Martha L. Gougler and his children; sons, Randall (Holly) Gougler of Newton Falls; Rick (Noriko) Gougler of Hayward, CA; Ronald (Peggi) Gougler of Warren; daughter, Rebecca (James) Kerr of Belton, SC; and his 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Gougler, mother, Marian Pew Gougler, and son Rodger Gougler.
The family will receive friends at the memorial service beginning at 11:30 Sunday, October 14, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, which will then be followed by a reception at the church.
